Gwalia has a dedicated in-house Health and Safety team who are committed to the health, safety and welfare of staff, clients, tenants, visitors, members of the public and everyone that may be affected by Gwalia's day-to-day business.
The team work towards identifying hazards, assessing and managing risks and striving for continual improvement to Gwalia’s health and safety performance. They also work closely with Managers, giving advice and practical support on:
* Accidents, accident reporting and investigating
* Auditing and inspecting premises and public grounds
* Chemicals – Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
* First Aid and Emergency Aid
* Fire Safety
* Moving and handling
* Policies and procedures
* Risk assessments
* Personal safety
* Safe working practices
* Staff Welfare, including health initiatives

OHSAS 18001
The OHSAS 18001 certificate is an assessment specification for Occupational Health and Safety Management Systems which was developed because of the need for businesses to efficiently meet their health and safety obligations.
Gwalia retained the certification in January 2010 for another year.
